About Bengali Language

Bengali (aka Bangla) is one of the 23 official languages of India. Bengali language is spoken in northeastern India and Bangladesh by over 250 million speakers. Its fifth most spoken native language and seventh most spoken language on earth. Evolution of Bengali language can be traced back to 3500 B.C to Indo-European language family. Some scholars and linguists believe that Bengali is derived from Indo-Aryan languages like Magadhi Prakrit and Pali. Bengali language also came under influence of Sultanate of Bengal created after Muslim conquest during 14th century.
