How to Type in Nepali
English to Nepali (नेपाली) typing is possible by using our online Nepali typing app. It converts English to Nepali easily by using pc keyboard or mobile phone. This is with the help of Google free translation. After typing in English, press the keyboard Space or Enter button, so that the English word will be converted into Nepali instantly. All this will happen in real time.
For example: After writing each word, pressing space will convert the whole word. The whole sentence will not be converted at once. For Example, On typing “Tapā’īṁ kahām̐bāṭa hunuhuncha”: will convert to “तपाईं कहाँबाट हुनुहुन्छ” Font will also change to Nepali.

About Nepali Language
Nepali is the official language of Nepal and also in Indian States of Sikkim and West Bengal. Its also spoken Bhutan and part of Burma. Nepali also known as Gorkhali or Khaskura is Indo-Aryan language native to himalayan region of nepal, Bhutan and some regions of Tibet is spoken nearly by 19 million as first languge by native people and nearly by 14 million as a second language. Nepali speakers are also in nearby states of india such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Uttarakhand. Historically, Nepali developed as a spoken dialect in the Gorkha region, which is now part of modern-day Nepal. Nepali is referred to have been derived from sanskrit through prakit and later formed to Maharashtri Prakrit with its dialect, approximately 1st-2nd century AD. Maharashtri later evolved to Nepali language in 15th-16th century. Under Yadava dynasty in 14th century Nepali became dominant language.
Further more two religious sects – the Mahanubhava and Varkari panthans used Nepali as medium of preaching doctrines of devotion. Literature in verses was composed based on astrology, medicine, Puranas, Vedanta, kings and courtiers.

Nepali is also derived written variant of the Devanagari script and remains standard for both print and digital communication today. The writing system of Nepali is characterized by its regular use of vowels indicated by diacritics placed next to the consonants and the clear representation of consonant clusters, which are common in Nepali.
Nepali is believed to have evolved from the Brahmi script having 15 vowels, 42 consonants, and certain other symbols. Nepali has borrowed vocabulary from Sanskrit in terms of vocabulary, grammar and literary styles like other indian languages. Nepali has several dialects, influenced by geography, ethnicity, and culture. Some of the major dialects include:
- Khas Bhasa: The dialect spoken by the Khas people in the hilly regions, which is the basis for standard Nepali.
- Tamang: Spoken by the Tamang ethnic group in central Nepal.
- Bhojpuri: Spoken in the Terai region, a variety of Nepali influenced by the Bhojpuri language.
- Maithili: In the eastern Terai, some speakers use a variant of Maithili, although it is a separate language.
- Newar (Nepal Bhasa): Spoken by the Newar community, this language has distinct features but is often seen as part of the Nepali cultural sphere.
Despite the variations, the standard Nepali spoken in Kathmandu, based on the Khas dialect, serves as the lingua franca for the country. Nepali exhibits a complex yet systematic structure, typical of many Indo-Aryan languages.
